Attorney Charles A. Messina is a native of Buffalo who has lived, studied and worked in the Greater Buffalo area virtually all of his life. He has devoted his legal practice to matrimonial and family law and has established a reputation as a knowledgeable resource on those topics and an effective advocate for his clients in matters of divorce, child custody and family court proceedings.
Charles formerly worked as a paramedic and registered nurse (and his maintained his nursing credentials). When a friend took the LSAT exam for entrance to law school, Charles decided to sit for the exam as well, and soon he had embarked on a new career.
He graduated from the University of Buffalo Law School (SUNY), concentrating initially in criminal law and interning at the Erie County District Attorney's Office. He settled into family law as a law clerk and then associate attorney at the venerated Buffalo law firm of Offermann, Cassano, Greco, Slisz & Adams, LLP. During his five years with the firm, Charles trained directly under trial lawyers Tom Cassano and Joan Adams, both of whom are Fellows of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
In November 2009, he established his own family law practice, The Law Office of Charles A. Messina, serving the Buffalo area, Erie County and surrounding counties of Western New York. Charles is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Family Law Section) and the Erie County Bar Association (Matrimonial and Family Law Committee and CLE Advisory Committee). He has been a regular presenter for the Erie County Bar on statutory and case law updates.
